Do you remember the story of The Princess and the Pea?
The prince is looking for a wife but the queen wants to make sure that her future daughter-in-law is a bona-fide princess. So, she devises an ingenious plan; she stacks mattress upon mattress on top of each other and under the very bottom one she places a single pea. After having numerous princesses sleep on the tower of mattresses, there is only one who tosses and turns all night. She is so delicate that she can feel the tiny pea through all of the mattresses. In return for her restless night, she is awarded the hand of the prince.
Aubrey may be our little Sleeping Beauty, but a Princess and the Pea she is not. She has taken to sneaking into our bedroom to sleep on the floor a few nights a week. This morning I found her sleeping soundly halfway under the bed, using the nightstand as her pillow.
